Knife attack on train in Switzerland

(VOVworld) - A man set on fire a train carriage in Switzerland using a flammable liquid and stabbed passengers on Saturday, injuring six people including a six-year-old child.

According to the police in Saint Gallen, a 27-year-old Swiss man carried out the attack on a train traveling to Switzerland’s far east, bordering Liechtenstein. Some victims are seriously wounded. The attacker poured a flammable liquid, causing the train to catch fire, then attacking the passengers with at least one knife. Seven people including the suspected attacker were admitted to various hospitals with burn and stab wounds. The police, firefighters, ambulances and helicopters were deployed in the rescue work. Salez railway station has been blockaded. Investigation is still underway. The police said estimate repairs of damage to the train would cost 100,000 Swiss francs or 103,000 USD.
