Libya talks set December 2021 date for elections

(VOVWORLD) - Libyans at UN-led talks have agreed to hold national parliamentary and presidential elections in December next year, according to the UN.

Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya Stephanie Williams said on Friday that participants agreed that national elections should take place on December 24, 2021. The election is hoped to end decades of conflicts in Lybia.

A joint military commission established in Sirte to advance cease-fire implementation will consider withdrawing fighters from the area.
