(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and presented gifts to poor households in Phuoc An hamlet, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province on Saturday. Each gift is worth 50 USD. He also handed 2,000 USD each to poor households or households of Agent Orange dioxin victims in the commune. The money will used to build 30 houses for them.

Da Nang city People’s Committee has allocated nearly 1 million USD to support social policy beneficiaries on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year or Tet. The city also provided 1,300 tons of rice to the local poor.
On Friday night, Ho Chi Minh city’s Farmers’ Association hosted a program to honor exemplary farmers’ families, who have escaped poverty and become well-off . The program raised more than 1 million USD to help the poor in the city.
In Nghe An province, an art program for the poor on Friday raised nearly 450,000 USD to help the poor enjoy their new year festival. This was the 3rd consecutive year Nghe An organized such a program to assist the poor during Tet holidays.
