At a meeting of the Hanoi Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Monday, Mr. Chung said municipal agencies have taken prompt measures to stamp out the outbreak as soon as 2 locally transmitted cases were reported in the city.

“We need resolute measures to contain COVID-19. It is necessary to spread the government’s policy and guidelines calling for people’s joint effort to fight the epidemic," Mr. Chung said, adding “each family should be a fortress, each citizen should be a soldier in the fight against COVID-19.”

On Monday, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan underlined the importance of raising people’s awareness in disease prevention. At an online briefing of the city's Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, he said wearing masks, ensuring safe production and business activities, and preventing illegal entry are 3 major solutions at the moment.

“Our city is now safe, but we still need to prevent risks of infection. Each family must be a frontline soldier in the fight against COVID-19. The Fatherland Front and mass organizations play an important role in this struggle.”

Starting Tuesday, Quang Nam Central General Hospital began receiving COVID-19 patients from quarantine facilities for treatment.
