(VOVWORLD) - Malaysia released its first ever Defense White Paper at the Perwira Dialogue 2020 themed “Malaysia’s Inaugural Defense White Paper: Ideas and Implementation” in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces Haji Affendi Buang said that the paper sets up strategic orientations for defense for the next 10 years.
Addressing the dialogue, Tran Viet Thai, Deputy Director of the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies of Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry, said Vietnam and Malaysia should increase information sharing, personnel training and patrols, and multilateral cooperation. He stressed ASEAN’s importance in safeguarding security, and ensuring peace, stability, and development in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.
