The Mekong Delta is in rice harvest season.

Despite unfavorable weather, particularly droughts and salt intrusion, this year’s rice output reached a record high of 7.3 million tons.

Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Director of the Plantation Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said: “We have gained experience in dealing with droughts and salt intrusion in previous crops. The Ministry has made early and accurate forecast of the situation in the Mekong delta. The local authorities and experts have informed people about the weather’s negative impacts on production in order to apply appropriate farming methods.”
