Mexico, US discuss Central America development plan

(VOVWORLD) - Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Wednesday discussed plans to develop Central America economically to confront the root of illegal migration.

Blinken said the 4 billion USD in financial aid that President Joe Biden has promised Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, will be managed by NGOs rather than local government agencies to avoid corruption.

The two officials agreed to increase cooperation in security, anti-crime efforts, and fair distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in the region.
