The event themed "Lanterns light up dreams" treated children in the capital city, HCM city, Binh Duong and other provinces to dragon dances, a Mid-Autumn medley, lantern procession and more.

Children also had the opportunity to participate in fun mini-games.

“I hope that there will be more activities to support and protect children and help them develop fully,” said Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Secretary of the Vietnam Youth Union.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known in Vietnam as the “Children’s Festival”, is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.

Traditionally, this time-honored holiday falls in the middle of the harvest season, a busy period that limits the time many families have to play with their children. That makes this day the perfect time for parents to take a well-deserved break and enjoy time with their youngsters.

They often prepare trays filled with moon cakes, candy, and fruit, and children enjoy entertaining activities, including a lantern parade.
