Ministers respond to questions about fake news, non-cash payment

(VOVWORLD) - The 14th National Assembly continued on Thursday its Q&A session with the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, the head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, and cabinet members.

The session focused on implementation of the legislature’s resolutions on thematic supervision and hearings from the beginning of the tenure to the 4th meeting of the parliament.

Minister of Public Security To Lam answered Deputy Nguyen Sy Cuong of Ninh Thuan province’s question on measures to deal with news containing inaccurate information and defaming of individuals on the internet. Mr. Lam said the Ministry of Public Security has collaborated with the Ministry of Information and Communications to get telecommunication enterprises to deactivate 3,000 websites that post fake news. The ministries asked foreign service providers to follow regulations concerning unlawful information.

Minister Lam said the National Assembly has approved the Law on Cyber Security and his ministry will continue to refine regulations dealing with cyber law violations: He added: “The Ministry of Public Security will work with sectors and agencies to thwart counterfeiting and cyber attacks. We will continue to collect data on propaganda, anti-state, and defamatory activities in cyberspace and take appropriate action.”

Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Le Minh Hung answered Deputy Pham Dinh Cuc of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province’s question on implementation of the non-cash payment scheme for the 2016-2020 period. Mr. Hung said SBV has issued 10 circulars on expanding non-cash payments and ensuring payment security.
