In the coming days, France will work with the Minsk group on Nagorno-Karabakh, which it co-chairs with Russia and the US, to establish responsibilities and find a solution.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel phoned the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan on Monday and Tuesday to urge an immediate ceasefire and a return to the negotiating table.

Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the priority is an immediate ceasefire and halt of all military actions, adding that any statement about possible military support for Azerbaijan or Armenia only adds fuel to the fire. On Tuesday, the Duma, Russia's Lower House, passed a resolution calling on Armenia and Azerbaijan to return to the negotiating table and offering to mediate the conflict.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday said “both sides must stop the violence” and work “to return to substantive negotiations as quickly as possible”.
