Mawlawi Abdul Karim Jihadyar, head of Spin Boldak district, reported that the confrontation lasted about two and a half hours after Pakistani border forces opened fire toward Afghanistan, prompting Afghan forces to respond.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Pakistani Prime Minister, Mosharraf Zaidi, accused Afghan Taliban regime of resorting to "unprovoked firing” in the Chaman border area.
This latest clash occurred shortly after the two sides concluded the peace talks in Saudi Arabia without reaching a breakthrough, although they had agreed to uphold the ceasefire.
