A fourth person infected with the virus has died in Italy as officials struggle to contain an outbreak in the north of the country.

Four more coronavirus patients have died in Iran, bringing to 12 the country's overall death toll from the outbreak. Iran has passed emergency measures that have been applied throughout the country, including a week-long closing of schools, universities and cultural centers across 14 provinces. Concerts and cultural events will be canceled for a week.

On Monday, Afghanistan recorded its first new coronavirus patient, one of three suspected cases in the western province of Herat.
