More resources needed to upgrade Bac Kan’s infrastructure: PM
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has called on the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan to improve its business climate to boost its competitiveness.
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc wants Bac Kan to become one of the most competitive provinces in Vietnam. |
Mr. Phuc told a ceremony marking 70 years of Bac Kan’s liberation on Sunday that the province should focus on high-tech agriculture and forestry, mining, and tourism services, particularly the potential of Ba Be lake, Vietnam's largest and one of the world's 100 largest fresh water lakes. In an earlier meeting with local leaders, Prime Minister Phuc pointed out that poor transport infrastructure is a key factor that makes Bac Kan the poorest province in Vietnam.
“We must work harder to reduce the poverty rate in Bac Kan which now stands at 22%. Solutions should include agricultural restructuring and upgrading the province’s transport network, which is the worst in Vietnam. More resources should be allocated to help Bac Kan basically solve this problem by 2205,” said Mr. Phuc.
