The project is in response to the National Week for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control 2022.

This is the second phase of the program to build storm- and flood-resilient houses sponsored by the UNDP, the World Share, and Quang Binh provincial Department of Planning and Investment. 39 houses of this type were handed over last December for underprivileged families.

The 73 safe houses will likely be completed by the end of July this year.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Phan Manh Hung, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the assistance by UNDP and the World Share is effective and practical.

The Vietnamese government, Green Climate Fund, and UNDP began their project to build storm- and flood-resilient houses in coastal provinces in 2018.
