More than 900 dead in Indonesia floods and landslides

(VOVWORLD) - Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency reported on Saturday that devastating floods and landslides on the island of Sumatra have claimed more than 900 lives.

The latest update confirmed 908 deaths, while 410 people remain missing.

Since December 4, the Indonesian government has intensified its emergency response to the disaster, allocating additional funding, deploying the air force to air-drop relief supplies, and establishing a special task force to investigate potential violations of forest protection and mining regulations.
