The poll released Wednesday by Beyond the Beltway, a joint public polling initiative by Washington-based research consultants Benenson Strategy Group and SKDKnickerbocker. 64% of those surveyed supported ending the embargo, including 74% of Democrats, 51% of Republicans, and 64% of independents. 71% of the poll respondents say that the Obama administration’s new policy on Cuba seeks “greater benefits for American and Cuban citizens,” while 29% of them say the change is a concession.
The poll was conducted in February 26-27 as the second round of negotiations on restoring diplomatic ties took place in Washington.
