NA discusses revised Law on Enforcement of Criminal Judgments

(VOVWORLD) - Many National Assembly deputies have emphasized the need to revise the 2010 law on Enforcement of Criminal Judgments to accord with provisions related to human rights and civil rights in the 2013 Constitution.

During a debate on Monday morning, the deputies said the revisions address ways to turn criminals into productive citizens. Nguyen Huu Chinh, a deputy for Hanoi, said: “Article 32 of the revised law regulates social resources to create jobs for offenders so that they can contribute to the economy. It defines the rights of offenders in accordance with the Constitution and laws on human rights”.

Deputy Chinh said that regulations on prisoners’ work or service conform with the Convention Concerning Forced or Compulsory Labor.
