Chairwoman of the legislative body, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, was speaking at a meeting in Hanoi on Thursday to review NA Office’s activities last year and set out missions for 2017.
Madam Ngan said in the future the National Assembly needed to fulfill its three major functions - legislation, oversight, and decision making on major national issues.
She asked the NA office to improve the quality and effectiveness of its activities.
In 2017, the NA is expected to adopt 24 draft laws, consider 14 bills, and carry out the supervision of law enforcement in food safety and State administrative apparatus reform in the 2011-2016 period.
