Nam O fish sauce making craft recognized as national intangible cultural heritage

(VOVWORLD) - A ceremony took place on Saturday in Da Nang to honor Nam O fish sauce making craft which is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Mr. Le Van Nghia, Vice Chairman of Lien Chieu district’s People’s Committee in Da Nang said the city approved a project on preservation of Nam O fish sauce making craft attached to tourism development in Da Nang. The project aims to make Nam O fish sauce a tourism product, boost local income, and develop Nam O fish sauce making village into a tourist attraction. Mr. Nghia said it is important to help local people to develop tourism and improve the quality of Nam O fish sauce: Nghia said: “This is the first time Vietnamese cuisine has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. Local people are very proud of that. Da Nang plans to develop a project to revive Nam O fish sauce making village and promote Nam O fish sauce to other areas in Vietnam and the world”.
