Afterwards, lawmakers discussed amendments and supplements to the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam. They called for thorough revisions to make the law consistent with the Party’s guidelines, Vietnam’s legal system, and international agreements, especially trade agreements, it has signed.

Deputy Tran Thi Hien of Ha Nam province said the law will lure more visitors to Vietnam, which has emerged as a popular destination among retirees in developed countries planning long vacations or health tourism.

She said: “I’m greatly concerned about the extension of visa terms for foreign travelers to Vietnam. With low daily costs and friendly people, Vietnam has a great potential to develop and compete with other tourism markets. The changes conform with the Party Resolution 8, adopted in January, 2017, which aims to turn tourism into Vietnam’s spearhead economy and improve the sector’s competitiveness.”

National Assembly deputies also looked into a draft law amending and supplementing the Law on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives and Supporting Tools.
