While meeting with Senator John McCain, Chairman Hung suggested the two countries’ legislatures establish an annual dialogue mechanism, organize programmes to exchange information and experience in legislative activities, and issues of shared concern. Senator John McCain expressed his hope that negotiations on the Trans-pacific Partnership agreement would be finalized shortly.

The two sides agreed to enhance their cooperation towards maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea for the benefit of the region and the world.

Both sides agreed to push the negotiation on the Trans-Pacific Partnership and approval of the pact by their legislative bodies.

On the same day, National Assembly Chairman Hung met with US Trade Representative Michael Froman. Hung affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of international economic integration, and said the Vietnamese National Assembly is aware of the need to amend domestic laws to comply with the guidelines set out by the TPP.
