Mid-year National Assembly session opens

(VOVWORLD) - The mid-year National Assembly session opened on Monday morning in Hanoi, where deputies will deliberate and approve five bills and three draft resolutions and give opinions on six other bills in the next 19 days.

Lawmakers will also discuss Vietnam’s socio-economic performance, the State budget, and oversight issues.

The National Assembly will decide the investment in five important transportation infrastructure projects, including Ring Road No 4 serving Hanoi and Ring Road No 3 serving Ho Chi Minh City, said NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

“Over the past year, lawmakers have strictly followed the set action plan, kept their promises to the voters, closely followed developments affecting their agenda, and worked to improve National Assembly’s capacity,” said Mr. Hue.

Laws and resolutions to be approved include the Law on Mobile Police, the revised Law on Insurance Business, the revised Law on Intellectual Property, and the resolution on piloting the model of organizing labor activities, career guidance and vocational training for inmates outside prisons.

Following the opening speech by Chairman Hue, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh presented a report on supplementary assessment of the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and State budget in 2021 and in the first months of 2022.
