National Assembly’s year-end session opens

(VOVWORLD) - The 8th session of the 14th National Assembly opens Monday in Hanoi. Before the opening ceremony, deputies laid wreaths, paying tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.

During the session which will run until November 27, deputies will focus on law making, planning to approve 12 draft laws and 3 draft resolutions, and to discuss 9 other draft laws. They are scheduled to adopt the revised Labor Code and the revised Securities Law. Deputies will debate the Law on Public-Private Partnership, revisions to the Investment Law and the Enterprise Law, the Irish government’s non-refundable aid for especially poor provinces under Program 135, a feasibility report for Long Thanh international airport, a comprehensive plan on socio-economic development for ethnic minority and mountainous regions, among others.

The NA Standing Committee will report the supervision of relevant agencies’ response to voters’ opinions while the Government will review external activities of the State this year. The legislature will also decide on personnel work, major socio-economic and budget issues.

The Prime Minister will answer deputies’ questions as applied for the year-end session. The Q&A session will last 3 days.
