Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, who is head of the committee and chair of the event, said the conference reviews the anti-corruption drive, point out any shortcomings, difficulties and weaknesses, and suggests solutions to deal with them.

He said there are still challenges to face in the long-term fight but he hopes newer, stronger, and more drastic changes will be effective.

“The attendance of all members of the Politburo and Secretariat emphasizes the importance of the conference. The public is closely watching the meeting and awaits its outcome. The conference is only successful when specific and pragmatic measures are adopted,” Mr. Trong noted.
