(VOVWORLD) - A ceremony took place in Hanoi on Saturday to launch the campaign “Millions of Kind Steps – Continuing the Golden History” to mobilize social resources for helping the needy as the Lunar New Year holiday is about two months away.

The event marks the 78th anniversary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the country’s major anniversaries in 2025. The "Humanitarian Lunar New Year, Tet, 2025" movement, beginning from 7 to 17 January 2025, aims to mobilize 1.2 million gift sets worth 27.5 million USD for disadvantaged and vulnerable people.
The “Millions of Kind Steps – Continuing the Golden History” campaign which will run through April 28, 2025 is to encourage 200,000 participants engaging on V-race, an online sports platform, to collectively cover 5 million kilometers, raising 200,000 USD to fund humanitarian efforts next year.

Addressing the ceremony, Bui Thi Hoa, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, calls on the members, volunteers, youth, businesses, organizations, and individuals at home and abroad with their abilities and hearts, to respond to the program and take practical actions to support this Lunar New Year movement.
“Each noble gesture, each compassionate step of yours will bring joy and hope to millions of the poor and people in difficult circumstances to have a fuller and warmer Tet holiday and make the volunteer sports movement spread widely,” said Hoa.
She expressed her hope that with the response of people from all walks of life, pioneered by women, youth, students, and humanitarian workers, Vietnam’ll make humanitarian messages and movements more meaningful in social life.

At the ceremony, Pham Tat Thang, Deputy Head of the Party's Commission for Mass Mobilization, beat the drum to launch the Millions of Kind Footsteps campaign and then walked in response to the program with other delegates, volunteers, and students.
