Bui Thanh Ha, Deputy Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, said that the law, which is promulgated in line with the 2013 Constitution, recognizes, respects, and protects human rights, including the rights to freedom of beliefs and religions. The law expands the list of those subject to exercising the freedom of beliefs and religions, adds more chapters on these rights, and stipulates regulations for registering for religious assembly. The law also creates favorable conditions for foreigners who legally reside in Vietnam to practice their religions.

Mr. Ha said the law aims to institutionalize the Party’s guidelines and the 2013 Constitution, reform state management to ensure freedom of beliefs and religions, and consolidate the national great solidarity. The law also fights the abuse of religions and beliefs to sabotage the Party and State and shows national responsibility for implementing international laws.
