(VOV) - US and Vietnamese experts gathered at a seminar in Hanoi on Tuesday to discuss the clean-up of Agent Orange/Dioxin contamination at Danang Airport. Donald Steinberg, Deputy Administrator for the US Agency for International Development (USAID), said IPTD or In-Pile Thermal Desorption technology will be used to clean up dioxin at Danang Airport, as part of a cooperative project between USAID and the Vietnam Defense Ministry. IPTD is an advanced technology that has been used successfully in the US, EU and Asia to clean up dangerous waste and make the environment safe for future generations. Air Force and Air Defence Deputy Commander Major-General Le Huy Vinh said he hopes the participants in this project will contribute practical ideas for using new technology and that the contaminated land will be cleaned effectively.
