(VOVWORLD) - The new UN General Assembly Chairwoman has promised to help achieve the sustainable development goals and bring the UN closer to the people.

In her address to the 73rd UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, Maria Fernanda Espinosa outlined the seven top priorities of her Presidency: promoting gender equality, implementing a new global migration compact, providing decent work opportunities to women, youths, and persons with disabilities, promoting public awareness of pollution, strengthening political and social commitments to persons with disabilities, revitalizing the UN, and promoting peace and security.
