(VOVworld)- Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Wednesday held a New Year meeting with the Politburo, the Party’s Central Committee’s Secretariat, leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, the Fatherland Front and revolutionary veterans. In his address, the Party leader highlighted the country’s achievements in maintaining macro-economic stability and inflation control, improving the liquidity of the banking systems and ensuring social security. He underlined progress made in health care, education, science and technology as well as efforts in strengthening national defense and security and maintaining political and social stability. Trong said 2012 marked a milestone in Party building with democracy in the Party and society being promoted. In the context of increasing difficulties forecast for 2013, the Party leader urged the entire Party, people and army to bring into full play the internal strength to develop the economy, ensure social security, further integrate into the world, maintain political stability and strengthen national defense and security. Party leader Trong says: “We believe that, with a firm stance of a genuine revolutionary party being  closely associated with the people, a State of the people and for the people and a staunch revolutionary spirit, bravery, wisdom and creativity of Vietnamese people, we will certainly overcome all difficulties and make new achievements in the new year. I call on the entire Party and people to maintain the trust and join efforts to help the country overcome all difficulties. I wish each family, each Vietnamese citizen a New Year of happiness and success”.
