New Zealand supports Vietnam’s dam safety management

(VOVworld) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved Vietnam-New Zealand research project on the safety of dam systems and downstream areas. The 1.8 million USD project, funded mainly by New Zealand, will be conducted in Hanoi and the central province of Nghe An until April, 2015.

It will evaluate a model for managing the risks of water discharge and dam failure to minimize socio-economic losses. Researchers will propose measures for Vietnam’s strategy of developing and managing its dam system.
