North Korean leader Kim Jong un's sister, Kim Yo Jong, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, was quoted by the KCNA, as saying "the South Korean authorities winked at the reckless acts of the "northern defectors" and did nothing to stop them." Kim Yo Jong expressed her displeasure over "such sordid acts."

"We regard such move in the south as a serious act of provocation against our state and will look into a counteraction," Kim Yo Jong was quoted as saying.

North Korea's Foreign Ministry on Sunday issued a statement saying North Korea says US President Joe Biden "made a big blunder" by labelling the country a security threat in a recent speech. The statement said "His statement clearly reflects his intent to keep enforcing the hostile policy toward the DPRK (North Korea) as it had been done by the US for over half a century."
