EVFTA, an important new generation free trade agreement that Vietnam participates in, includes commitments to equality between Vietnam, a developing country, and its developed partner, the EU. Vietnam has never before prepared thoroughly and systematically for the implementation of a deal like this one.

Luong Hoang Thai, Director of the Multilateral Trade Policy Department, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: “The Ministry is strengthening practical solutions to help small and medium enterprises via market opening or information dissemination. Yesterday, we piloted a project on providing online information on the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement via YouTube and Facebook. 3,000 businesses have registered to participate in our online training courses.”

The online meeting aimed to inform businesses of opportunities and challenges as well as requirements for domestic businesses to improve their competitiveness. Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said: “We hope to listen to businesses and instruct them how to implement the EVFTA. We much need to know what obstacles businesses are facing and help them address problems.”
