(VOVworld) – Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas has threatened to break off a unity agreement with the Hamas movement if it does not allow the new government full authority in the Gaza Strip. Under an agreement in April, Palestinian parties formed a national unity government after 7 years of division between Fatah and Hamas. The new Palestinian cabinet, based in Ramallah, was sworn in on June 2. Hamas is still the power behind the throne.
