(VOVWORLD) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday condemned the Israeli decision to advance some 3,000 new housing units in Israeli West Bank settlements.

These unilateral measures will destroy what remains of the two-state solution, are in defiance of the United Nations Security Council resolutions, and convey disdain for the efforts of the US administration, Abbas’s office said in a statement.
Earlier on Wednesday, Israel decided to move forward with plans to build some 3,000 homes for Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank. An Israeli defense official said a planning forum of Israel gave preliminary approval for plans to build 1,344 housing units and its final go-ahead for projects to construct 1,800 homes.
