At a meeting on Saturday in the Presidential Palace, Mr. Trong applauded the active contribution of trade union movements and hoped for their further contributions to national renewal, construction, development, and defense. He said:“The Vietnamese working class is unique. From a colonized nation, Vietnam has become an independent nation, which is advancing to Socialism and building a Socialist-oriented market economy. We are inviting domestic and foreign investment. Amid the technological boom and fast changing political situation all over the world, there is a question for us: How should the trade union do to operate effectively? I am glad that while we need to study more reality and theory, the trade union organizations have been creative and effective.”

Party General Secretary and President Trong praised the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for organizing meaningful activities to mark the 90^th anniversary of Vietnam Trade Union and presenting the Nguyen Van Linh Award.
