PM approves plan for execution of Hague Convention on Taking of Evidence Abroad

(VOVWORLD) - The Prime Minister has approved a plan for execution of the 1970 Hague Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad in Vietnam’s civil and commercial matters.

The plan aims to help Vietnam maximize the benefits and fulfill all of its commitments as a party to the Convention.

It focuses on acquiring evidence in civil cases involving foreign elements and bringing Vietnam’s current laws regarding mutual legal assistance in civil matters in line with international standards.

Under the plan, Vietnamese authorities will work together to raise public awareness of the Convention and effectively implement it, improve regulations on the taking of evidence in civil matters, and increase the capacity of officials enforcing the Convention.

The Ministry of Justice has been tasked with coordinating relevant ministries, agencies and organisations to implement the plan.
