PM wants experts to find a new driver of national development

(VOVWORLD) -  Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked experts to find a new driver of national development during a working session on Tuesday with the National Advisory Council on Financial and Monetary Policies and his economic advisory group.

Mr. Phuc emphasized the need for a mechanism to make technological innovation a driving force for labour productivity, competitiveness, and socio-economic development.

He asked the experts to closely monitor the economic situation here and abroad, and note emerging problems in order to deliver timely recommendations to the PM on suitable mechanisms, policies, and solutions to address them.

“The Government’s task is directing the country to achieve the goals of the 13th National Party Congress, which will open on January 25. Vietnam is striving to become a modern industrialised country and leave the ranks of lower-middle-income countries by 2025. In 2030, when Vietnam marks the 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, it hopes to be an upper-middle-income country and by 2045, it hopes to be a developed, high-income country. This year, Vietnam will continue to carry out the dual task of controlling the Covid-19 epidemic while boosting production and creating jobs,” said PM Phuc.
