Presiding over the regular Government meeting for April in Hanoi on Wednesday, the Prime Minister urged for efforts to “build standards and criteria in state management and increase decentralization and individual responsibilities.”

Government agencies should focus on state management and strengthen supervision and inspection, he added.

Prime Minister Chinh said that in April and the first 4 months of this year, the socio-economic situation saw positive changes with inflation under control and people's living conditions improved, demonstrating the efforts of the whole political system. However, he warned that Vietnam is forecast to face many difficulties in May, especially the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister asked for a more flexible monetary and fiscal policy that will match reality to contribute to growth and ensure macroeconomic stability and major balances of the economy. The State Bank of Vietnam, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Ministry of Finance should focus on creating a favorable and fair environment for production and business, Mr. Chinh said.

Regarding the fight against COVID-19, the Prime Minister called for stronger voice against both tendencies of complacency and panic. Agencies and localities need to be creative and flexible in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, said the Prime Minister.
