PM calls for collective wisdom, people's participation in pandemic response

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday visited and worked with Can Tho city’s health sector on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure safety of the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and the People's Councils at all levels slated for Sunday.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed Can Tho city’s important role in the Mekong Delta region with more than 20 million people. Therefore, the Can Tho health sector must be a pioneer and exemplary with drastic, prompt and effective actions, while mobilizing collective wisdom and people’s participation, especially in the prevention of COVID-19, said Mr. Chinh.

The Prime Minister urged the sector to prepare equipment, medical supplies and testing tools to serve treatment and testing. The health sector was also required to promote information dissemination to raise public awareness of the danger of the pandemic and the importance of pandemic prevention and control.

Also on Saturday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited officers and soldiers on duty in the concentrated quarantine area for COVID-19 prevention and control at Regiment 926 under the Military Command of Tra Vinh province.

The Prime Minister stated that after four waves of COVID-19, the later wave was more difficult and unpredictable than the previous one, leaving severe consequences. The current outbreak is very complicated and the new virus variant is spreading very quickly and is very dangerous. However, Mr. Chinh said Vietnam has basically controlled the situation across the country.

The Prime Minister said he hopes that the military units, officers and soldiers on duty in the quarantine areas continue to accomplish their tasks in the spirit of patriotism and determination to win, brightening the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people.
