PM orders tighter measures to control COVID-19 variant Omicron

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on Sunday signed an official dispatch of the Prime Minister on strengthening the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, which orders tighter measures to prevent the new variant Omicron from entering Vietnam.

The dispatch says the COVID-19 pandemic in the world continues to evolve  unpredictable and there’s high possibility that the Omicron variant will appear in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to closely monitor the pandemic situation in the world and promptly give report to him for appropriate measures.

The Ministry of Health should be well-prepared and prevent the health system from being overwhelmed, urgently issue guidelines on the pandemic level and necessary measures in accordance with pandemic situation in winter weather and the risk of Omicron variant, and strengthen epidemiological surveillance to early detect any new variants, the dispatch said.
