PM Pham Minh Chinh meets Lao counterpart, Vietnamese community in European countries

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held separate meetings in Brussels on Tuesday with Lao PM Phankham Viphavanh and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Belgium and other European countries during his trip to Belgium to attend the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit.

At the meeting with the Lao Prime Minister, the two leaders highlighted the successful implementation of four key projects and the start of three new projects, expressing their belief that these projects will improve the connection between their economies and benefit the people and businesses of both nations.

The two leaders exchanged their views on global and regional issues, and agreed to support each other at international forums like ASEAN, the UN, and regional cooperation mechanisms.

PM Chinh said Vietnam is ready to support Laos in undertaking its international responsibilities, including hosting the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit in 2023, and assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024, which will raise its status in the world.

At the meeting with overseas Vietnamese representatives, Mr. Chinh hailed the Vietnamese community in Belgium and other European countries for their contributions to their host country and to relations between Vietnam and Belgium and between Vietnam and the EU.

He asked the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium and other agencies to further support overseas Vietnamese in overcoming difficulties and challenges.
