Mr. Phuc highlighted Lao Cai’s natural advantages like Sapa, a “township in the fog”. He called for more efforts to promote the northern mountain potential and develop local tourism. Prime Minister Phuc also emphasized on Lao Cai’s mining industry potential, saying the government does not encourage investors with short-term vision and low-tech.

He urged Lao Cai to strongly develop border gate economy as the province borders with China. Mr. Phuc said: “It’s necessary to build international logistic and trading centers. A trade center should be established and China will be an important partner to develop trade in this region. Control should be tightened to fight smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods. The government gives priority to building uniform infrastructure and incentives for the center. The Hanoi-Kunming railway will be built in line with international practice.

Prime Minister Phuc called on Lao Cai to develop entrepreneurship so that there will be 20,000 enterprises in the province.
