Vietnamese and Russians visit and offer flowers to the Ho Chi Minh statue in Vladivostok, Russia, May 19, 2020

At the event, Diosdado Cabello, United Socialist Party of Venezuela’s First Vice President, highlighted Ho Chi Minh’s contribution to the struggle for Vietnam’s independence and the people’s love for him.

An online symposium on the life, thoughts, and career of President Ho Chi Minh was co-organized in New York on Tuesday by the Vietnam Mission to the United Nations, Vietnamese representative agencies in the US, and the associations of Vietnamese students in New York and Boston. Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, said President Ho Chi Minh left many precious legacies for later generations, primary one being his contribution to the struggle for national liberation.

The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos held a meeting in Vientiane to celebrate President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday. The event was attended by Laotian leaders, the Vietnamese community, and local Buddhist followers.

A tree planting ceremony was held in the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine to mark the occasion.

Vietnamese and Russian organizations organized a ceremony in Vladivostok to celebrate the 130^th birthday of President Ho. They visited and offered flowers to the city’s Ho Chi Minh statue. Evgeny Vlasov, Assistant Principal of Far Eastern Federal University, said President Ho Chi Minh was not only Vietnam's political leader, cultural celebrity, and national liberation hero but also a great friend of the Soviet people in general and the Russian people in particular. He added that Uncle Ho laid the foundation for the traditional friendship between the two countries and peoples. He said he hopes that, on this foundation, Vietnam and Russia will continue to maintain and develop their relationship.
