President Joe Biden to host US-ASEAN summit later this month

(VOVWORLD) - US President Joe Biden will host a summit with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Washington in late March, the White House announced on Monday.

According to White House press secretary Jen Psaki, the summit, which will take place on March 28 and 29, is an opportunity to demonstrate the US commitment to ASEAN and mark 45 years of US-ASEAN relations.
She said President Biden is making relations in the Pacific a top US foreign policy priority.
President Biden participated in the US-ASEAN summit last October, where he announced more than 100 million USD in new US spending in ASEAN countries on health programs, a new climate initiative, programs to assist economic recovery, and education programs.
