(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang received visiting President of Japanese House of Councilors Yamazaki Masaaki on Tuesday. He praised collaboration between the two parliaments and coordination between the two countries at regional and global forums in recent years. He thanked the Japanese parliament for protesting activities to change the status quo in the East Sea and supporting the policy of Vietnam and ASEAN on settling disputes in the East Sea.

He said he hopes that Japan will increase trade and economic exchanges with Vietnam and use its technology prowess to help Vietnam develop high quality agriculture and fishing. He said that both countries should promote collaboration in education, training, and youth exchanges.

Mr. Masaaki said activities to change the status quo and the use of force in the East Sea are unacceptable. He also said he supports the peaceful settlement of disputes in line with international law.
