(VOVworld) – President Tran Dai Quang has praised UNESCO’s Global Learning and Global Citizenship Program and hoped that it would be successfully implemented on the basis of common awareness of sustainable development among UN members. At a reception for Carlos Alberto Torres, UNESCO’s Chair in Global Learning and Global Citizenship in Hanoi on Wednesday, President Quang said that Vietnam introduced its candidate for the post of UNSECO Director General for the 2017-2021 term and expected to receive international support. He asked Prof. Torres to continue working on cooperation between UNESCO and Vietnam in addressing global issues.

Also on Wednesday, President Tran Dai Quang met representatives of generations of the Combat Department at the Vietnam People’s Army  General Staff. He praised their contributions to the past struggle for national liberation and unification as well as today’s national construction and defense. The President stressed the need for the Vietnamese, people, and army to stay united to achieve national goals. He called on the Combat Department’s personnel to improve their capacity for giving advices on key, strategic issues in the pursuit of national construction and defense.
