President Truong Tan Sang receives UNICEF Executive Director

(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang says the Vietnamese State gives priority to child care, protection and education. Sang made the statement at Wednesday's reception for UNICEF Executive Director  Anthony Lake, who is visiting Vietnam for the global launching ceremony of “The State of the World's Children 2013”. The President said Vietnam sets out major tasks of finalizing legal framework and building a judicial system fit for child development. He called for UNICEF’s assistance for Vietnam’s policy making, access to essential services and supervision of child care and the promotion of children’s rights. Sang also asked UNICEF to provide more support to children with disabilities, including victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and unexploded ordnance.

The UNICEF Executive Director said his organization will continue helping Vietnam to achieve its socio-economic goals and increase sustainability of Millennium Development Goals (MDG) achievements as well as boost child care and protection.

On Thursday, Anthony Lake will chair a ceremony to launch “The State of the World's Children 2013” Report in Da Nang.
