President Vo Van Thuong begins official visit to Laos

(VOVWORLD) - President Vo Van Thuong on Monday began a 2-day visit to Laos at the invitation of General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

The visit affirms Vietnam’s consistent policy of respecting and giving the highest priority to its great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Laos.
According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, it has been a common practice for senior leaders of Vietnam and Laos to choose the other country as the first country to visit after taking office.
“President Vo Van Thuong will hold talks with Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and discuss with other leaders of Laos measures to deepen comprehensive cooperation between the two countries,” said Ambassador Hung.
“They will discuss global and regional issues of mutual concern to enhance shared understanding, and strengthen close coordination and effective cooperation in various forums. The visit will be a success and contribute to elevating the relationship between Vietnam and Laos to a new height,” according to Mr. Hung.
