This is the first visit to Japan by Nguyen Xuan Phuc as head of the Vietnamese government. It takes place at a moment when the “extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia” between Vietnam and Japan is thriving.

Vietnam has a consistent foreign policy of deepening bilateral ties in the interest of the two countries’ people, and prompting global peace, stability, cooperation, and development.

During his 3-day stay, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to take part in a high-level economic policy dialogue between Vietnam and Japan, attend the expanded G7 Summit, and meet with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.

Japan’s first invitation to Vietnam to the expanded G7 Summit reflects its appreciation of Vietnam’s growing status and role in ensuring peace and political stability in the region.
