(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Tuesday commended medical staff for their tireless efforts and braving hardship to take the lead in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a letter sent to staff of the health care sector, the Prime Minister thanked the Health Ministry and the military medical force for their prompt direction and assistance in the fight against COVID-19. Many brave and noble deeds have been performed by people of all ages and economic and social backgrounds, the most prominent being by those in white coats in Da Nang city and Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue province, along with others in hospitals, research institutes, and medical universities nationwide.
Mr. Phuc hailed the heroes for exerting every effort to take test samples, conduct tests, treat patients, and trace and quarantine people in close contact with COVID-19 patients.
He said the health care sector should focus all resources on containing the spread of the disease and fully equip its staff to ensure their absolute safety, and called on all doctors and medical staff across the country to stay determined and show a high sense of responsibility to defeat the pandemic.
